The strict significance of jannat ul baqi is "The Garden of Heaven'. It is otherwise called Baqi al-(Gharqad is the name of the prickly trees, Box thistle which were bounteous in Baqi) significance "Orchard of the Box thistle Trees".

Placed to the south-east of Masjid-e-Nabwi, Jannat-ul-baqi is the most otherworldly and favored cemetery of the Muslim world where a significant number of relatives of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w) and thousand of his colleagues are covered. Numerous conventions relate Prophet Muhammad saw talking about the position of al-baqi as a favored place and offering a supplication to God at whatever point he passed by this memorial park, adding to its sacredness.

Prophet Muhammad saw said: "Peace be upon you, O homestead professors. What you were guaranteed will happen tomorrow at a settled time. We should, Allah willing, soon go along with you. O Allah! Award absolution to the individuals who are covered in al-Baqi' al-Gharqad." (Muslim)

The Islamic history of Jannat-ul-baqi backpedals to the time when Prophet (SAW) relocated from Makkah to Medina. As'ad Bin Zararah (RA.), an Ansari buddy who passed on not long after the Prophet's (s.a.w.) movement to Madinah, was covered in al-baqi. The Prophet (s.a.w.) picked the spot to be a cemetery which was long ago a place that is known for boxthorn trees. The principal of the Muhajirun (Emigrants) to be covered there was Uthman container Mazoun who passed on the third of Sha'ban in the third year of Hijrah, soon after the Prophet (s.a.w.) came back from the combat of Badr. The Prophet (s.a.w) requested certain trees to be pulverized and in its place, he covered his dear friendly with two stones set over the grave. Medina is to be sure fortunate to have the cemetery of Al-baqi, where many consecrated dispositions rest in peace.

At numerous focuses in history, numerous arches and structures were assembled or revamped in Al-Baqi to recognize the tenants. After the city of Medina was taken by the powers of Ibn Saud, a number of these edifices and tombs were demolished, with a specific end goal to keep with the Wahabbi thought of not going by graves as they thought of it to be un-Islamic. Muhammad Ali Basha with the backing of neighborhood tribes, figured out how to sidestep the Al-Saud clansmen for some time, permitting them to restore the sanctums for some time.

On the other hand, in 1924 AD Wahhabis entered Hijaz for a brief moment time and the mausoleums in Jannat ul Baqi were destroyed by the request of King Abdul Aziz Al Saud on April 21,1925, with the destination of avoiding development over graves or individuals looking for assistance from dead in consistence with prophet (s.a.w's) hadith. A few researchers thought of it to be a connivance of Jews in pretense of taw'heed to destroy the Islamic legacy.

Around the celebrated internationally hallowed dispositions covered in Al-baqi are:

All the wives of the Prophet (s.a.w.) with the exception of Khadijah bint Khuwaylid and Maymuna bint al-Harith, the little girls of the Prophet (s.a.w.), Ebrahim (r.a), the child of the Prophet (s.a.w) by Maria al-Qibtiyya, Abbas (r.a.), the uncle of the Prophet (s.a.w.), the close relatives of the Prophet (s,a,w), Safiyyah and Aatikah (r.a.), Uthman (r.a.), the third Caliph and child in-law of the Prophet (s.a.w), Halimah Saadia, the wet-medical caretaker of the Prophet (s.a.w.), Sa'ad canister Abi Waqqas (r.a.), Abdur-Rehman container Auf (r.a.), Abdullah receptacle Mas'ood (r.a.), (r.a.), Imam Malik (r.a.) and numerous other close accessory men and ladies of the prophet of Islam.
